Steve Merfeld is a former assistant basketball coach at Bradley University and the former head men's basketball coach at Hampton University and the University of Evansville.

After leading the Hampton Pirates to back-to-back NCAA tournaments, including a first-round upset of second-seeded Iowa State in 2001, Merfeld was hired as the head coach at Evansville, where he coached until the 2007 season.

Effective December 6, 2009, Merfeld stepped down as an assistant coach at Bradley University.[1]

Reports on May 3, 2010 have confirmed that Merfeld was hired as the assistant coach at Creighton University by Coach Greg McDermott.
